Response

1. From Jan 2017 until Dec 2023 the total number of officers who have retired via the ill health retirement process.

Response: The total number of officers who have retired via the Ill Health Retirement process from 1 Jan 2017 until 31 Dec 2023 is 470.

2. Please could I have Bandings of the Officers who were granted Ill health retirement in point 1 and were then subsequently awarded an Injury on Duty Award

Response: There were 165 officers that retired on the grounds of Ill Health from 1 Jan 2017 until 31 December 2023 applied and had an Injury on Duty award approved in the same time frame.

Of the 165 officers:
• Nine were awarded 25% or less (slight disablement)
• 23 were awarded more than 25% but not more than 50% (minor disablement)
• 81 were awarded more than 50% but not more than 75% (major disablement)
• 52 were awarded more than 75% (very severe disablement)
