The Authority and Police Scotland promotes the contribution that policing data can make to strategic improvement, and the delivery of the Vision for Justice in Scotland. We work with key stakeholders on research projects which help to shape future policy on Scottish policing.
The Authority and Police Scotland have set four strategic outcomes that focus and drive our research activity, which takes place through the Forum:
- Future research commissions benefit from enhanced governance, improved coordination and specialist advice regarding methodologies and data availability.
- Commissioned research is reviewed, and its impact understood. Effective, evidence-based policing in Scotland is being championed and communicated to a wider audience.
- Knowledge-exchange activities (seminars, webinars, roundtables, conferences) are used to enhance engagement with an agreed programme of work. The Forum’s reach across networks is expanding.
- External research funding opportunities are identified, influenced and put to use, and they are aligned to the agreed strategic research priorities of the Forum.
