A Diverse Scotland
Today's Scotland is a diverse community made up of unique individuals who bring a wide range of skills, experiences and cultures to the environment in which we all live and work.
Legislation against discrimination has been very important in raising the profile of equality and diversity issues. It has:
- helped to establish public awareness of eliminating prejudice and unfairness
- given representation and voice to different disadvantaged groups
- made a difference to people's behaviour and lives.
A Diverse Workplace
Here at the Authority, we believe that it is important to create a productive environment where everyone feels valued, where talents are used fully, and where prejudice, discrimination, stereotyping and harassment are not tolerated.
Our staff, partners and stakeholders need to be confident that we understand their needs, in order for us to be effective; able to perform our duties and deliver services in a manner which is sensitive and appropriate, without compromising our operational integrity.
Equality For All
The Authority is committed to eliminating discrimination on the basis of any and all protected characteristics identified in the Equality Act 2010. These are: age, disability; gender reassignment; marital and civil partnerships; maternity and paternity; race, religion and belief, sex and; sexual orientation.
We are keen to provide a customer-focused and client-focused service to our partners and stakeholders. That is demonstrated by our commitment to fair and consistent equality policy and practice.
