Group 1: Non-Sexual Crimes of Violence
Violent crime in Wick has decreased slightly in the past year and is at its lowest level for the past 6 year. The rate is lower than both the Highland and national levels which have both seen increases in the volume of crime.
Group 2: Sexual Crime
Recorded Sexual crime has decreased slightly in Wick in 2023 after seeing an increase during 2022. The level of crime does appear to fluctuate year on year and may be attributed to historical abuse allegations. Wick is also below the average for Highland Council but higher than the national average for this crime type.
Group 3: Acquisitive Crime
Acquisitive crime levels increased year on year post Covid and is at its highest level in the past 5 years within Wick during 2023. This again can be seen at the Highland and national levels which have both increased in 2023 and both remain at a higher rate than the level of crime in Wick.
Group 4: Damage Related Crime
Damage related crime has decreased in 2023 within Wick whilst the Highland and national figures have both also shown a decrease.
Group 5: Other (including drug related)
Drug related crime has reduced in the past couple of years and remains below the Highland and national averages for this crime type.
Group 6: Miscellaneous Offences
Miscellaneous crime and have increased in Wick during 2023 but remain lower than the Highland and national averages for this offence type.
Group 7: Road Traffic
Traffic offences have increased in Wick during 2023 but remain lower than the Highland and national averages.
