Background
Our people’s health and wellbeing are now being considered across all processes and activities and although much has been achieved since the launch of Your Wellbeing Matters to establish core systems and support we continue to strive to further understand our people’s needs. Your Wellbeing Matters supports four key areas of wellbeing: Physical, Psychological, Social and Financial.
Your Wellbeing Matters is supported by evidence in practice from all aspects of the organisation and aims to drive the development of the next generation of the health and wellbeing programme which is ever evolving. We have a number of health and wellbeing priorities which provide us with a strategic focus and act as the foundations of a health and wellbeing framework; more information on the priority areas is provided below.
Our People Strategy 2024-27 highlights the importance of officer and staff wellbeing throughout, and its first strategic objective is to prioritise wellbeing and keep our people safe, protected and well-equipped. Under this objective, the strategy acknowledges the challenging nature of policing and the potential impact on mental health, prompting the need to prioritise the ‘complete wellbeing’ of the workforce. The desire for alignment around wellbeing is also evident in the People Strategy implementation plan, which commits to having “a coordinated approach to health, safety and wellbeing which meets the full needs of our people”.
