This document details the remuneration and expenses paid to Members of the Scottish Police Authority for the period 01 July - 30 September 2024 (Q2).
Remuneration Rates
Members of the Scottish Police Authority are appointed by Scottish Government. Members hold public office and are not employees. Members receive an agreed attendance allowance (i.e. day rate) that is subject to tax and national insurance for their time. The daily rate and agreed maximum time commitment is detailed in the table below.
In March 2023 Authority Members received an uplift of their attendance allowance. The uplift (£3.00 per day in 2021-22 and £1.92 per day in 2022-23) was paid to Members in March 2023 backdated to 1 April 2022 and is included in the remuneration figure below.
This was the first increase in SPA members’ day rates since Sep 2020. The updated attendance allowance day rate can be found in the table below.
