FOI 2024/25-097 - Proof that Shetland is part of Scotland

Report Summary

Issued 13 January 2025, this FOI response advises that information on the Crown's sovereignty in Scotland is not held by the Scottish Police Authority. Advice is provided that the Shetland Islands are considered a part of Scotland in terms of the responsibilities discharged by the Authority.

Response

The Scottish Police Authority has considered your request under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act (FOISA).

The Authority does not hold the information requested.

However, as part of our duty to assist, the Authority can confirm that the Shetland Islands are considered a part of Scotland for the role and responsibilities discharged by the Scottish Police Authority, and by association Police Scotland who police the Island.
