Response

Question: Can you please confirm whether this knife was forensically tested?

Answer: Forensic Services can confirm a ‘SUMI’ Knife (Label 68) was forensically examined.

 

Question: Can you please confirm when this knife was handed to SPA?

Answer: This production was not submitted to Forensic Services as the case pre-dates the establishment of Forensic Services in 2012. Productions were submitted to the Lothian and Borders Police Forensic Science Laboratory between 1st July 2003 and 30th June 2004.

 

Question: This knife appears to have been noted as having blood on it - can you confirm whether this was the case and if so, was it human or non-human?

Answer: We can confirm there was human blood recovered from the knife.
