In 2020 the Scottish Parliament's justice sub-committee on policing published the below report on facial recognition technology in policing. This included a number of actions for the committee about Glasgow City Council's proposed use of 'Suspect Search' software into its CCTV systems.

On the back of this report the Scottish Police Authority was asked to review Police Scotland’s plans to access and use Glasgow City Council’s Suspect Search technology. This included considering whether all the necessary impact assessments have been undertaken and safeguards met.
