Issued 14 September 2023, this FOI response confirms that information on at what stage of employment a trainee / police constable or police constable swear the oath of office is not held by the Scottish Police Authority. Advice is provided that Police Scotland may hold information.


Request

I'm required to ask question in regards to the Police constables oath as follows,

“I, do solemnly, sincerely and truly declare and affirm that I will faithfully discharge the duties of the office of constable with fairness, integrity, diligence and impartiality, and that I will uphold fundamental rights and accord equal respect to all people, according to law. ”

The question being: At what stage of employment does a trainee / police constable or police constable swear the oath of office?
