FOI 2023-007 - Officers accused of sexual assault/rape - Information not held by SPA

Report Summary

Issued 23 January, this FOI response advises that information on numbers of officers accused of rape/sexual assault who were prosecuted, remained on duty, took early retirement, is not held by the Scottish Police Authority. Advice is provided that Police Scotland may hold information.

Request

In August 2019 information was released that ninety-two officers had been accused of sexual assault/rape, that year. Three of the victims were WPC's.

1a. How many officers were processed through the court system and prosecuted/admonished?

1b. How many officers remain/remained on duty following accusation?

1c. How many officers took nearly retirement as a result of those accusations?

I would like the figures for each year since the inception of Police Scotland of the number of officers accused of sexual assault/rape:

2a. the number of officers taken to court and prosecuted/admonished.

2b. the number of those officers who remain/remained on duty following accusation.

2c. the number of those who took early retirement.
