Sexual Orientation
According to Scottish Government data from 2018, around 3 percent of the Scottish population identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or other and 95 percent identify as straight or heterosexual. The Scottish Government note it is likely this data undercounts the number of adults self-identifying.
Representation of LGB staff has increased from the figure of 4 percent reported in 2017 to 5.66 percent in 2023.
The pay gap in relation to sexual orientation is sitting at -0.1 percent.
Leaver rates at 8 percent are slightly higher than the figure for the overall workforce and so demonstrates the need for continued engagement with diversity staff associations.
No specific actions have been identified in this area as next steps other than continued engagement with diversity staff associations to support consideration of approaches to ensure an inclusive workplace.
