REMOTELY PILOTED AIR SYSTEMS (RPAS) UPDATE
Members noted the paper, with ACC Mark Williams providing an overview. The following points were highlighted and discussed:
• ACC Mark Williams provided members with an update of the procurement process, noting that the drones are now with Police Scotland and will be rolled out following the appropriate training.
• Members enquired whether other UK forces are still using the old style drones and were advised that some were, but as these drones are no longer supported they will have to replace them with the new version.
• Members asked whether there was scope to look at the inter-operability of drones with other emergency services and Chief Supt McCreadie advised this will be explored.
• Members were advised that the Air Support Strategy will be presented to members at September PPC.
Members noted the report and agreed the following action:
