The Scottish Police Authority has today, Friday 2 December, announced the appointment of a new Deputy Chief Constable (DCC) to Police Scotland’s leadership team. 

Jane Connors QPM is currently Temporary Deputy Assistant Commissioner for Professionalism at the Metropolitan Police Service.

The appointment follows a process of assessment, interview and selection conducted by the Authority. The appointment fills the role vacated by DCC Will Kerr OBE who was appointed Chief Constable of Devon and Cornwall Police.

Announcing the appointment, Martyn Evans, Chair of the Authority said:

“I am delighted to announce the appointment of Jane Connors QPM as Deputy Chief Constable to Police Scotland. Jane is a highly experienced police leader who brings a wealth of complementary skills to strengthen and support the Chief Constable and wider leadership team.”

Chief Constable Sir Iain Livingstone QPM said:

“Jane is an outstanding police leader who will add further experience and skills to our senior team.

“I am grateful to all the high-quality candidates who stepped forward for what has been a demanding and competitive process.”

The Authority launched a recruitment campaign for a Deputy Chief Constable (DCC) on 13 October 2022.

The appointment selection panel was chaired by Martyn Evans, Chair of the Authority, and comprised:

• Sir Iain Livingstone QPM, Chief Constable of Police Scotland
• Prof Fiona McQueen CBE, SPA Board Member
• Angela Leitch - Public Health Scotland, Independent Member

Martin Hewitt QPM, Chair of the National Police Chiefs Council was an advisor to the panel.

The salary for a Deputy Chief Constable with Police Scotland is £190,390.
