As a public body, the Scottish Police Authority (SPA) is required to prepare a Gaelic Language Plan setting out how we will support the increased use and learning of Gaelic and promote a positive image of the language in the work we do.
Our draft plan for the period 2021-2026 has been prepared within the framework of the Gaelic Language (Scotland) Act 2005, and seeks to support the National Gaelic Language Plan overarching aim that “Gaelic is used more often, by more people and in a wider range of situations”.
The Authority’s draft Plan sets out our proposed commitments in support of the National Gaelic Language Plan.
Stakeholders, partners and members of the public are invited to review the draft plan and provide feedback via our dedicated Citizen Space consultation portal. Feedback will inform any updates to the plan which will be presented to the Board of the Authority for formal approval in September before formal submission to Bòrd na Gàidhlig in October.
The Authority’s draft plan has been prepared in both English and Gaelic and can be accessed from the links below:

The survey offering feedback on the plan can also be completed in both English and Gaelic from the links below.
